You can power the distribution unit form your 2tb using a triax io link + power adaptor. Always worth having power in the loft though. I wish we did but overlooked that. All my coax cables in the loft were labelled up into which room they went too. Don’t know if I was lucky though as this seems unusually efficient for HH fab .. just googled... thanks for the tip.

you can absoloutly cancel for this contract or not, its not very common but it does happen from time to time. done well you wouldnt even notice it especially if your south or east facing
sooo .. are you saying that in contract you could still cancel on the basis that its a new build and that a sat dish would not fit in... (even if like you say they can be fitted fairly discretely) .. ?? We cancelled mid contract because our house wasn't on their system. Was pretty easy actually.

Personally I don't think we will see the likes of SKY and Talk Talk installing infrastructure any time soon on the estate. OFCOM have reiterated the ruling that's been in place already for a number of years which allows CPS to use BTS ducts and poles. However, no other CPs have been willing to invest thus far (some exceptions in York with UFO) and it's cheaper for CPS to rent the line from BT.
A recent agreement between BT and the government says that any new estates with more than 250 houses should have FTTP installed as standard.
GFAST will also be available shortly for anyone stuck with a copper line. This should boost speeds upto 1GBS over a copper line but dependent on distance from PCP etc.

Well, just come off the phone with Sky. They defo can only offer stock BB, not fibre. As they cant provide what I have already they have agreed I can cancel both the landline and BB with them (with no charges / cancellation fees). So will do that and probably go with Virgin for these. Will keep sky for TV. Better result than I thought to be honest.

Good news on the cancellation front. I wouldn't dismiss BT BB, it offers more for the money in the way of WiFi across the country, mcafee security for pc, BT Sport etc ...
BT TV also seems not to be mentioned here, don't forget to look at each of them to get the best price. Also call instead of ordering online, much easier to get discounts that way.

Thanks Damon... I pay about 68 for everything currently (decent discounts on everything), I'll lose the discount on all bar the BB (the one they cant supply it seems) which takes it to around 110 or so ... Sky Q is a little bit more but without discounts it nets off around 50 quid more. My own fault for haggling with the current price as the difference just seems more when removing it!! I have a 2tb box (no rf out) and a couple of older ones with rf out. One of these would be used in the lounge and then used as the the feed out. Currently have this box in the loft and feeding direct into a distributor around the house. In my mind - rather than this, I was going to have this box in the lounge and have the feed back to the loft (using the aerial point in that room) and then into the distributor in the loft (i've had a plug socket fitted there) .. this would then boost it so I could use magic eyes in 2 bedrooms (i had something like this previously). I can do that myself so not a problem ... its just that there will be quite a few loose coaxial feeds in the loft to choose from!!! I'd be happy enough if I can cancel the BB for now to be honest ... I use it for downloads, gaming etc .. so I'm used to fibre and would prefer faster connection. I'll ring them tomorrow and see what they say ... thanks for the advice and I'll post once I get a reply from them ... cheers both ..

Do BT TV now do multi-room? That was the only thing that put me off last time I looked at it.

No other provider could afford it plus it just wouldn't make sense. I think you may have been looking at a different OFCOM ruling to the one I was referring too. At the moment BT are on Waverley, well most parts anyway. However you can only use BT, the latest ruling means they will have to open up their network for others to use. So we should hopefully see other providers available soon other than just BT or Virgin. media.ofcom.org.uk/news/2016/digital-comms-review-feb16/

SKY\Talk Talk already have access to all of BTs infrastructure, in some instances they don't use it as it is too expensive (in particular with FTTP, premium product), if FTTC was an option on the estate then we would have more CPs to choose from (FTTC has a lower rental for CPs). OFCOMs rulings aren't finalised yet so it could all change again, we shall see ...
SKY\Talk Talk (joint venture) already have infrastructure in York\Basingstoke but will only probably invest where it is financially viable to them.

Loobin it might be worth checking with BT you've still got an engineer coming out on Thursday they've cancelled ours saying that they've still got things to configure before they can install the line. They're phoning on the next week to rearrange the appointment.

Quick question, how long did it or is taking to get your broadband up and running? I'm a little worried as I work from home and I need broadband immediately.
Thanks Teresa

What's so difficult if all these houses are pre wired?
