Right, I've put my toys back in the pram and put my dummy back in.
We have received a flyer through the door today asking for comments on Barratts proposed new phase fronting onto Highfield Lane between the end of the current Barratt contemporary phase and the Harron Hebdens that are in the process of being constructed. Part of this comprises 42 flats built in 2 blocks both of which are 4 storeys in height. Seems a bit sneaky when most of the houses that it will affect directly on the future Oakdene Way are currently still being built and won't be on the planning notification list yet, but people may have put deposits down or exchanged contracts with Harron already and be blissfully unaware of what Barratt are planning. Has the flyer gone round the whole estate or just down Highfield Lane and the nearby roads?

That's could be very disappointing, considering we are buying one of the hebdens. Can you stick a copy of the flyer on here please?

Thanks teddy! What do you think the rainbow looking thing is on the grass in the corner opposite the hebdens?

The development of 4 storey blocks of flats is too close to Highfield Road and should be ideally not placed there at all or at worst set back at least another 30 feet. It's going to be like a concrete jungle the way they are planning it with everybody crammed in to a small plot.
Also I can't see from those plans but where is the parking for 42 flats??? I would suggest they need at least 60 spaces for such a development.
The southern most of this flats is right near my home. I knew my beautiful view of the lake from my front door was not going to last but this is a terrible way to lose it.

Not even close to enough.

Not even close to enough. The lack of parking was my first thought, the new houses that Harron are building only have one drive space so the road down there is going to be rammed as it is. Second thought was the sheer scale of it. Four storeys at the top of the hill right up against the road edge. It'll just dominate the streetscene completely. I think the semi circle on the green is probably just a bit of artistic licence by the architects.

I think the rest of the barrat planking looks nice ! Just the flats need changing or not even been put up. Harron have proposed some flats but only 6 or something.
42 is excessive.
And yeah I didn't even think a out the parking. I Rekon that's a good reason for contesting two big blocks of apartments.
Don't want cars all over the road it's already bad enough.

Its also dead center of the estate. I thought the new barrats homes were more expensive due to being closer to the lake (nicer views)...well that's not going to be a great view, and does not fit with the style/theme of the rest of the area. If they want flats, the small type ones Taylor have are more appropriate. I'll be joining others sending my objections (I've been on here a year, and finally created an account just due to this!).

I think everyone should contest on the planning when' it's on there. I think only a handful objected last time compared to the amount of comments. I objected but obviously with 2 or 3 neighbour comments they're not going to do a thing. If everyone did I'm sure they have to listen ?

Thanks for posting teddyowner I agree parking is going to be a real issue and I suspect cars will end up parking along Highfield Lane, which won't be pleasant. Also with the Harron and Barratt developments densely building houses where is the "green space" meant to be? I can't see any proposed park or leisure area.

The location of the flats is very cleaver on Barratts part. They dont affect any of the other houses they will be trying to sell. Just the houses that have already been sold (by Harron).

That's what's worries me ! There's so much evidence of the master plan of having green space ! Surely they have to keep to their word. Or give compensation if they change completely! Just keep copies of the plans so they can't say that we are making up what we've been told. The first plans for waverley show loads of green space. !

Could someone post on here when it is possible to post comments on the planning department's website please?

Not everyone feels comfortable commenting on the website because names and addresses are usually posted. Is it worth starting a petition?
