This is what a local 3 storey Barratt block looks like. linkThe parking up there is horrendous, God help a four storey mess.

Not everyone feels comfortable commenting on the website because names and addresses are usually posted. Is it worth starting a petition? I was thinking the same thing - presenting a petition and log of objections from present and future residents would possibly have more impact than individual objections made to the council. It's at least worth a try.

I think a petition would be good too ! Should we get one started and then we can take it round the estate?

Right, I've put my toys back in the pram and put my dummy back in. We have received a flyer through the door today asking for comments on Barratts proposed new phase fronting onto Highfield Lane between the end of the current Barratt contemporary phase and the Harron Hebdens that are in the process of being constructed. Part of this comprises 42 flats built in 2 blocks both of which are 4 storeys in height. Seems a bit sneaky when most of the houses that it will affect directly on the future Oakdene Way are currently still being built and won't be on the planning notification list yet, but people may have put deposits down or exchanged contracts with Harron already and be blissfully unaware of what Barratt are planning. Has the flyer gone round the whole estate or just down Highfield Lane and the nearby roads? Nice to see you back! To add to the comments, Waverley to date is not reflecting the concept we were sold and to beat the drum again where is the community??? Thoroughly getting fed up of revised plans and no consideration for existing residents (the builders will argue we were canvassed but let's be honest this is just a tactic and the deals are already done). I think it's time we had a 5 way meeting between residents, builders and Harworth. I've noted our local councillor is also on the forum and part of his role is to represent the residents of Waverley and be their voice in many of these matters. The Waverley dream is fast turning into the Waverley nightmare and somebody should remove the 'yorkshires best community' boards as they're starting to make me choke at the sight of them. Maybe it's worth a conversation with the press as well....

I can't understand how they can possibly build these apartments. 21 in each block. In the main they have 2 parking spaces per apartment. Each space is a minimum of 2.75m x 5.5m (15.12m2) excluding turning and access they will need a minimum of 600m2. With access it's probably going to be around 700m2. I can't see this on the sketch. Once we see the final plans for application I can't see it working. I'll be certainly going up against this.

The five way meeting sounds a good idea

Agree, a five way is required. These builders all need putting back on track before they get carried away.

I think at the very least we should all reply to the email on the flyer showing our initial disgust in the the 4 storey turd they intend to drop on us. The email is Laura.mepham@jrpassoc.co.uk, or for you more adventurous folk her number is 01924 383322

We have bought the Nidderdale the 'shortest' (literally) home on the Oak Dene Way. I asked Rachel of Harron Homes what will be built opposite as obviously we don't want anything towering over us. This was about 2 weeks ago and was told she wouldn't think a tall building would be built opposite. You have confirmed my worst fears. Regardless of my objections, the builders will do what they will do. I wish I'd never bought this house now.

I really hope this is resolved successfully soon and doesn't drag on and on.

They obviously want to hear our opinions even if they don't act on them. There must be something as a community everyone could do! If we kicked up a big enough stink if everyone got involved surely they'd have to listen. Someone mentioned the press. As a last resort it's be an idea? The last thing they'll want is bad publicity!

I don't think he's being negative, just realistic I'm afraid ... They don't care, it's all about profit for all parties concerned including Harworth ... We do however need to see some strong evidence of where the schools shall be, green areas, parks and amenities as proposed ...
