Apologies if I've missed it scanning through but any update on the green spaces at all? I've seen threads on ball games etc and agree kids need somewhere bigger to play. Cheers. There was a bit of a park on the plan for the next phase after the one Barratts are currently consulting on. It didn't look any bigger than the bit of a green outside the new show homes though. Duncan pointed at the lake area when asked where all the green spaces would be located and sort of intimated that would be most of it. Locations for footie pitches etc seem to be on the back burner while everything at the planning stage is still quite fluid.

Very interesting reading all the comments and thank you to everyone for sharing. Just to give my two penneth on a few of the points: The Barratt's apartments - agree at the grievance people are feeling and I know if I were living across from those I wouldn't be a happy bunny. I lived on the top floor of just a two storey apartment building and it was overlooking people's back gardens. I won't lie but I felt their pain. The through road on Highfield Lane - I was aware that the road would eventually link back down to Orgreave Road at Catcliffe before I even started looking at buying on there. Some people's comments around people potentially using it as a 'rat run' seem a bit strange. Are you expecting Waverley to be cut off from the rest of existence with no passers by allowed? That's what roads were invented for, to link places together. The local centre or 'heart of the community' as it keeps getting referred to as - Where it's being proposed seems like a win win for me. A win for the businesses as they get passing trade, and a win for us because we won't end up with hundreds of cars passing through the estate every day. I'm trying to look at all this in perspective and without the rose tinted glasses. But in my opinion Waverley is a up and coming, thriving community. I think the location will always mean house prices will be higher, which I think will keep it as one of the more desirable areas to live in. Watch this space though, I've just moved in at the bottom of the Taylor Wimpey development near the new Barratt development, currently overlooking a large hole in the ground. Who knows what will end up there, so I may end up eating humble pie... Matt Your hole in the ground will have houses on it.......in about 18 months. Straight up from Duncan at the meeting.

Fully agree surely none of us want cars driving through the estate to get to the commercial businesses so keeping them by the Winter Green seems a winner. Accepting the concerns some would rather not have them, sadly they're coming. Everyone's opinions will differ, but keeping the commercials on the outskirts works for me and 'the heart of the community' for me should be the social side of green spaces, parks, play areas, etc where people come together and our children are safe or we feel at ease relaxing there. The lake should be part of this, but we really need Harworth to consider greater green access.

I moved here from the new development at Manvers, there's a Harron site there as well as others. I would expect something similar, small shops - Greggs, Machine Mart, Subway, Dominos, a small cafe etc. there a larger KFC that also houses costa coffee and an aldi near to the Marstons pub (bluebell). There's also a lake with a cafe and there's water sports and running clubs, sailing, open water swimming etc. It seems the blueprint has been lifted for Waverley. There's a football field, cricket field, bowling green, skate park and rugby field ( with shed loads of dog waste bins :-) ) There's also a Holiday Inn too...... Sounds like paradise, why did you leave, lol

To be fair I would like the supermarket where they want to put and we live at that end of bradfield way. I am also not interested in how high they build the Barrett flats as I won't be able to see them. One thing I have noticed on this forum is the little gangs who jump in to help each other' but then get on their high horse when someone goes against them. Rich you even moaned about traffic in Tinsley with the new IKEA? I also agree with Chris, we live in a field in Rotherham and people should also realise this. The dreams of small shops where nobody goes are never going to happen, can we all stop the moaning and clever comments and let Harworth get on with it because not matter what we say they will do as they see fit to make profit just like any other business would do. Rant over.... I really can't understand why I've read this so much "we live in a field in rotherham" or "this is just rotherham" or "it's pretty much catcliffe". An area is what you make of it. Just beacaue it's rotherham doesn't mean it's shit. Waverley already has a great reputation when mentioned. If you go around thinking it's part of a crap area or crap council then you'll be te ones making it into a crap area. I love it here and think it's already such a nice place to live. It will be a beautiful area regardless of the 4 storey flats. Which I'm sure you would be bothered about if they were infront of you. It was great how many people "moaned" as it showed how many people do actually care what this area turns out like and don't want to settle for a field in rotherham . Rant over

In the Barrats planning application document rotherham.planportal.co.uk/view.aspx?id=RB2015/0960&docid=2749811 they have stated the following...(this is their justification for the 4 storey flats)
The Masterplan Development Framework and Principles Document (August 2014) states in respect of scale that: “The site will predominantly contain a mix of 2, 2.5 and 3 storey dwellings. A small number of buildings of up to 4 storeys will be possible within the identified areas to emphasise prominent positions, create landmarks or increase density. “
Does anyone know where this "Masterplan Development Framework and Principles Document (August 2014)" is located?
I have found the "Masterplan Development Framework and Principles Document (May 2014)" rotherham.planportal.co.uk/view.aspx?id=RB2014/0775&filename=5666899-10-00015_140530_543_01_1.PDF. Absolutely no where in this document does it discuss storey heights though.
Could someone help provide the right document?
Thanks.

I've lost all my faith in the whole planning process, barrats, and harworth. They all want the same thing, they all have their ways around things. It's discusting. And frustrating !
All three are just money grabbing b******s ! You would have thought harworth would look after the residents and the area that they are developing. They just don't give a s**t :/

I've presented my objections to the Council on-line now. Should be viewable soon.

I've objected but in all honesty I think we might as well throw in the towel now, we are well and truly boned. The double bent barstewards have just had a new July 2015 masterplan drawn up to fit these plans 4 storeys and 1 space per apartment already agreed with the council! All we did at the consultation was pre warn them what grounds we'd be objecting on so they could stitch us up. rotherham.planportal.co.uk/view.aspx?id=RB2015/0960&docid=2749811

Yep, a few words come to mind when I think of harworth estates. At least they put in what our concerns were at the consultation evening.
Lost all respect for then to be honest.
