Just got back from the consultation, thought it would be good to start a separate thread to share what everyone has learned.
I'll try and keep mine concise, hence the bullet points.
Overall I was suitably impressed. They said to use Fox House as an example of what it might look like.
They do read the forum as well so keep any feedback coming!

- They tried to get it moving earlier but couldn't get enough traction. They then brought in Dransfield who seem to be getting things moving now.
- They want it to have that industrial feel to keep with the traditions of the mining heritage, so high ceilings with tall windows.
- No flat pack buildings, all brick built.
- There will be the expected amenities - medical centre, pharmacy and small shops.
- There will be a supermarket - they are talking to the big 4/5 about this.
- A 66 room hotel, although this will mainly be used by AMRC for people travelling to do training etc.
- There will be a gym/ leisure facilities
- There will NOT be any kind of take away or fast food outlet. It will mainly be coffee shops/ sandwich shops with reasonable opening hours.
- Looking at 2 to 3 restaurants, one possibly in the hotel but independent from it.
- Parking provision will be around 406 spaces. There will be an additional 64 spaces around the back of the buildings for staff working in the centre.
- There will be security, which will include CCTV, number plate recognition and time limited parking.
- The centre will be gated off of an evening, so we won't get boy racers in there late at night.
- The latest anything will be open will be 11pm and this will just be the restaurants who will have the usual licenses.
- Access will be via Mitchell Way, just opposite the entrance into the Winter Green. I asked about entry next to the Training Centre but they said that wouldn't be possible due to the banking angle. (They'd basically need to weave across and back which would take up too much space.
- There are plans for a bus depot which is accessed down Stephenson Way and left as though you'd go into the AMRC. (I stated this as the main concern on the feedback form)
- Planning permission is going in end of November, with a view to start work end of next year.
- Drainage is already in place so there's no ground works to be done.
- No retailer has officially signed up yet, but they are hoping to have around 40% capacity by the time building starts. They are talking to independent retailers as well as chains.
- The childrens park will be moving down near the school on the corner of Lescar Road.
