As we are moving onto Waverley in a few weeks I have a 7 year old daughter and a 2 year old son.
Was wondering which primary school is the best option? Do you get a choice or is it like other areas just under catchment area?
I was going to keep my daughter at the same school till next September as my son won't be starting school till then just means getting up that but earlier to set off but don't know if I'd be pro-longing it.
Has anyone else's child fitted into a new school straight away? I'm worried as my kids are the opposites of each other, my daughter is really quiet and shy and my son will talk to anyone and about anything.
Any advice or decisions you have had to make appreciated xx

Hiya, Brinsworth Howarth and Catcliffe are the ones in catchment. I would recommend doing your research and visiting, I have just done both. There are lots of schools in the wider area too, but many are over subscribed and when you are out of catchment you're bottom on the list basically.
Doing my own research tells me that both catcliffe and Brinsworth are nice schools and kids tend to fit it but I suppose that's down to the individuals as much as the schools.
Lots of posts on here with comments on them both if you do a search.
Hope that helps

There are several Brinsworth primaries I would have a look at them all before deciding which is best for your little one.

My son attends Brinsworth Howarth and we are really happy with his progress and the community feel of the school.
I'm a parent governor at the school and can't stress how much the school has improved since its last ofsted inspection, we are expecting another inspection this academic year and I strongly recommend paying a visit and speaking with Mrs Crawford the headteacher.

My daughter started at Brinsworth Howarth in January of this year (she was 7 at the time). It is a lovely school and my daughter is very happy there. She is progressing really well. The headteacher Mrs Crawford is lovely and welcoming as are all the staff I have come across. I think I worried about it more than my daughter as it is such a hard thing to change schools but she has been absolutely fine. I would definately recommend you visit so you can see for yourself and hopefully put your mind at rest!

Our little one goes to Catcliffe. We can't speak highly enough about the staff and the school. The Executive Head is some sort of nationally recognised Primary education guru, which works well for the School and he lectures on the subject at various Universities.
Obviously we don't know what the other schools are like as our kids don't go to them.
A good barometer for comparison is the Ofsted reports. Catcliffe got 'Good' in the last 2 and we've heard that they were within a whisker each of being Outstanding. Achieving Outstanding is a target of the school.
They also offer breakfast and after school clubs, which is certainly something that is very important to us. We'd have struggled otherwise.
If anyone has any questions about the school feel free to PM me.

There's plenty of space and it's a lovely little school. The head teacher lives next door to my mum and dad, we've known her since I was little and didn't realise she was the head there till I went to have a look round. My daughter went to for a look round yesterday and she loves it, says she can't wait to move there xx
