Find the electricians on site and ask for replacements they sorted it no problem for me. I think that's what we're gonna have to do!

Failing that if it goes off in the middle of the night do what I did when I was half a sleep and smash them up a bit whilst on the ceiling, it didn't work but it felt good! Then I realised I should take the batteries out once I started to wake up a little bit more.

Then I realised I should take the batteries out once I started to wake up a little bit more. That has been an option I've considered! I tried turning the 'smokes' fuse off in the fuse box the other day, but that just upset them more! I think they're fighting back!

I was gonna say, aren't they hard wired with a battery backup?

I was gonna say, aren't they hard wired with a battery backup? They will be yes, they also have a link between them all so that when one goes off they all go off. Personally I would start by removing the link too isolate the offending alarm. As that way only one should go off. But isolate at the consumer unit first ;-) Once you've found out which one it is that will help. Also do you have an alarm in the loft space? It's not a requirement under current regs, so most likely not but if you do, that could be your offending alarm. I've not looked in the loft to see if we have one fitted or not. Maybe someone who has boarded their loft can advise on that one?

No smoke alarm in our loft so I suspect it will be the same for all other Harron homes. With Paul's being a 3 story I suspect he'll have 3 alarms. Serves him right the posh bastard

Yeah I would be surprised if any of the builders added stuff they didn't need to. But worth a check, just incase
It's not just the cost of the alarm but the time to route the cables etc.
Sounds like it's an over sensitive alarm to me.

Went to the harron site office today. They said to replace the batteries as if the are knacksrd then the alarms will go off even if they have power from the mains.... Let's see if I end up running round the house in the middle of the night tonight then! :-(

Did it work? (changing the batteries, not running around the house neked!) Well... It did for a few hours.... But then came back at 10pm this evening to the sound of the dreaded bleeping :-(. Call to harron tomorrow to get them changed I reckon.

If you get hold of them can you ask if they wouldn't mind returning my calls that'd be nice.
