I do try to post my 'get white paint' comment as often as possible, so you might have seen one of my previous posts :-) Harron will try and put you off if they can as its extra work... Which takes longer. As we know, time is something Harron don't have lots of when they're trying to rush a house out for a deadline!

White looks better than magnolia but if you're intending on decorating anyway then it's a waste of money IMO. I couldn't live in a white house as it's just too clinical with the white ceilings, white doors, architraves, skirtings etc. I'd be amazed if they put 3 coats on as well. bish , interesting to read your comment about the extras being deducted from the list price. That certainly wasn't the case with ours. Our mortgage is the list price, less deposit, plus product fee. If they don't have to do another coat of white, it's strange that they try and talk you out of having it. maybe they have surplus amounts of magnolia? Who knows.

They don't like to paint it white because it shows the blemishes in the plasterwork better than magnolia does. They also use obliterating paint rather than regular emulsion...the clue is in the name!

Aside from paint, don't order turf. 9/10 times it will be boggy and need digging up,drainage and more turf. Also their turf quality is not so good.

Well what a result. Went in today to choose colours and kitchen etc. during the week Buffy rang Jenny and said that we had been speaking to neigbours who had told us about the extras they had got and she said that she would see what she would do but didnt think it was likely. Well today we were told that we will now be getting tiling in kitchen, dining room utility and cloakroom downstairs as well as in en suite and bathroom. worked out that we have saved £10k plus on extras and fittings. very pleased. got copies of everything we decided on so if anything goes wrong (which we understand will) we have our own copies. Thanks for all your comments and advice very very helpful.

Are they paying your stamp duty? If not, that's probably why they have given you so many extras.
However, the main thing is that you're happy with your deal.
If you're coming to live on this marvellous estate, then I'm certain you will think it's money well spent :-)

Hi We have them ,we paid £700 something .. Sorry can't remember exact price . If you can get them for around £700 then that would be a good price. It would cost a lot more than that to change them if you wanted to do so in the future. I think we paid about £750 when we bought our house 2 years ago. Makes a big difference!

We also have chrome covers to all sockets and light switches. I agree it does look nice.

I looked at the price for them but when you can buy them from Screw Fix for £5 each I think I will buy them and fit myself. its a really easy job and if you do get stuck there's a you tube video with a guy showing you how to change them.
Save £££££££

Save £££££££ Good idea but I think you'll need to work it out to ensure it's cost (and time) effective. For example we have 16 rooms/areas in our home when I include the entrance hallway and 1st floor hallway. When I think each one of these will have at least 1 light switch (some 2 or more, for example our entrance hallway has 4 light switch panels for different areas but for purpose of this example I'll calculate on 1), and on average 3 or 4 double gang sockets each, you're looking at at least 80-90 sockets. At £5 each that's £400-450 plus at least 10 minutes each of my time (about 13 hours). I'd rather give the job to someone else
