We moved in today after a long exciting wait on our house and I can honestly say I don't think I've cried as much.
The finish on these houses is anything from "high spec" our integrated appliances aren't even in our kicthen, our living room window didn't shut and one has a gap in it bigger than a 1 pound coin. The en suite shower door doesn't close, the bath panel was re-done as we moved in as a blind man had cut it. We had a leak in the downstairs loo, the hot water doesn't work, the doors have cracks in them, the rendering needs re-doing, the canopy is all ruined, the back door is knackered as is the front! ... The list is endless!!!! We didn't even get a manual for the alarm..The paint job was clearly done by a 4 year old and to say the cleaners have been in is beyond a joke! I cannot believe our house has been signed off as habitable. I'm not saying any of this to be a petulant child I'm saying this from my heart.. Please don't buy Harron the reviews you read online aren't one offs they are real!!

Sounds like a nightmare. Do you know how to use your alarm? We were given two alarm booklets if you want one.

Do you need it tonight? We also have a crib sheet when we asked for a lesson on how to use the alarm from the electricians? - our alarm didn't work for the first week. Have you managed to get your hot water working?

I feel so sorry for you having problems like this, it's outrageous! Sounds like Harron have really gone down hill on these new phases, I can't believe problems are so bad now!
It may be worth people moaning to Harworth also and pointing these posts out in the hope they put some pressure on and take it into account before selling them more land...

It is a real shame... There were some houses that had issues on first couple of phases, but most (including ours I'm glad to say) were of a good build quality.
It's fairly obvious that Harron are expanding far too quickly and are trying to do too many houses at the same time (3 separate phases on the go at the same time).
I just wish they'd have kept things steady and dine a good job. However, i can't imagine the greedy ones at the top will be bothered as long as the profit line keeps going up! :-(

They aren't Paul at all, they just want then building and will get any Tom, dick or harry in to do the job, so long as they are cheap and fast then that will do. Paying contractors next to nothing and expecting the world is not going the job done right.
I'm at end of my tether with it all now. And managers are useless, they darent even answer their phones or come up to see us when there are problems. They don't even reply to emails. All the lot need getting rid of starting from the top. Never known a building company like it. X
And we are on Waverley Walk chillyboy x

I've never wanted to not be somewhere so much in my whole life!!!! We are having a building surveyor in next week to help build up a case as he will notice even more things! Can't believe it's been signed off as habitable as our living room window didn't even close until someone had to come and sort it and the other side has a massive gap in.. We live on Waverley walk.

D rose plumbers, ford windows, the roofers and ground workers etc have all been doing work on Barratts as well as Harron... Has this changed now? They have taken too much on but their biggest issue is rushing to meet the deadline instead of taking a step back, delaying and putting things right before people move in. I've seen people moan at being delayed, and I've always thought they were crazy as it's better not to rush the builder, they do that themselves and look at the messes it creates. They've definitely gone down hill anyway, I moved in Christmas (end of December 2014) and didn't have issues like these. Hope it gets sorted for you but it will take time by the looks of it :-(

Thing with moving dates is they do it to themselves, they promise a day then don't give any confirmation of it leading upto it making everyone guess and wonder when they are moving. Meanwhile people get moving vans etc in place.
We told Harron at first that we didn't mind moving January or February so long as you tell us as my husband works offshore and had turned a fair few trips down to work around the moving date which was originally the 18th December, they then put it back a week and still didn't give us confirmation until two days before even them the house wasn't ready so we were still in limbo.
Harron are going downhill,I've never seen such bad workmanship on anything, anything you saw in this house was a right state, I've got a full book of photos that I've put together and you have never seen anything like it, its worse than homes from hell infact we should all get together and go on there. It's enough to put anyone off.
I am still very upset and stressed through all this as it's not what you expect to get when buying a new house. I could have bought an older house and had less stress by getting decent builders in. X

We weren't even rushed in our completion date was 18th December and we only moved yesterday I stressed how much I couldn't afford for builders to be in and out as we have a new baby and I voiced how not desperate I was to move in and it still looks like something you see on channel 4 dispatches! We are devasted I would truly honestly tell anyone who had reserved to cancel and go with someone else! If I could have seen just how bad it was going to be I'd have never bought it.
All the site is ran by the same people and they all talk utter rubbish telling us our roof that is wrong is a teething problems my partner is a roofer and he knows exactly what is wrong n the whole lot (canopy) needs replacing as does the rendering!! These aren't snags!
