We are going in for our home demo on the 23rd. We have a snagging company visiting on the 24th -so a week or so before we complete, which is really good. All agreed and booked in. Tried to switch sky today and book in installation. They said they couldn't see that fibre optic was in the area / or that BT had activated it. They could only move on a standard broadband speed - which I don't really want? Anyone else had this issue? Yes we have sky and we have the standard broadband package that sucks. We used the 3 months VM offer on broadband only, that was great but make sure you remember your connection date (see my other post about VM customer service). After entering my post code Openreach states "Great news, you can get Superfast fibre directly to your home. Please get in touch with your service provider for more details". Sky told my wife that it's not available. I need to call sky to discuss this. openreach - where-and-when

Virgin do have their own network in majority of places but still use BT in parts. Talk Talk & SKY don't own any network (except in York) and depend on BT to provide it for them and just piggy back, so I believe the info that Talk Talk offer fibre here isn't accurate. If any provider cant supply the same level of service in your new home then you are able to cancel contract without penalty.
