Hi Matt, I'm Cheryl's husband. We had a date of April / May to start with then last week received an update that it would be 18th March for CML sign off with a completion date to follow (10 days so likely end of March I think). I raised a concern relating to other posts about being rushed in for a quarters figures and with our date moving I hoped it wasnt the same for us for this quarter. They said not... hope so! Harron have still refused for me to send a snagging company in pre completion though. I've asked again as I would prefer to snag and at least try and get some of them rectified pre moving in. We'll see how that pans out. Like you - hope its a smoother move than others have had. Fingers crossed and hopefully see you around.
Mark..

Hi Mark, strange not letting you get a snagger in, straight away makes you think there's going to be issues somewhere. Good lucl either way, and keep us informed if you will, it'll give us an idea of what to expect.
Yes I'm sure we'll bump into each other, maybe walking the dogs!
Matt

Ha .. sure we will. In regards to the snagging, their solicitors have responded with a statement that they will agree a date but 'will only carry out works which falls within the parameters of their liability as a builder'. God know what they mean by that or what they dont think will be covered on a new build, no one been in the property, only things / work done on the property will have been completed or supplied by them!! Jeepers ... !!

I called to site this morning and managed to catch the site manager coming out of one of the houses on Lescar Road, it had just been decorated (think it was a Hebden), I told him of some of the horror stories and that we were a tad nervous and didn't know what to expect. He let me have a quick nosy round the house he was coming out of and I have to say, barring 2 small cracks I spotted where the skirting had dried out and shrunk slightly, the finish in that particular house was second to none. Hopefully the rest are/will be the same.

Fingers crossed. I called up on Sunday and had a look around - seemed fine. I havent had any response from the office in regards to my snagging or a firm date (sure they read this forum though - so 'can you respond to my email please' ) As others have said - if there are major issues then snagging wont tell me but at least its a start. Hopefully there wont be any and all will be well!!

We are going in for our home demo on the 23rd. We have a snagging company visiting on the 24th -so a week or so before we complete, which is really good. All agreed and booked in. Tried to switch sky today and book in installation. They said they couldn't see that fibre optic was in the area / or that BT had activated it. They could only move on a standard broadband speed - which I don't really want? Anyone else had this issue?

They could only estimate between 2mb and 8mb broadband speed on the development so we've abandoned sky broadband (keeping TV package) and converted to Virgin for the Web. Virgin have their own bespoke line apparently and aren't dependent on BT. Someone who's lived on the estate longer maybe able to confirm or expand on this though.

Thats a bugger!! We're tied into a contract... I suppose if they can't supply it and can only supply the bog standard one then we should be able to cancel without penalties. .. Thanks for the response ...

We've been waiting for Virgin since we moved in at Xmas as they were doing a really good package for TV and broadband but week after week they have kept saying it isn't installed yet and finally when they said they have they said something has gone wrong and it will be another four weeks. So we rang sky for TV as sky don't do broadband yet and they don't know when it will be and we have just rang BT for broadband, they can't get out till the end of the month though to install that xx

We've been lucky as both sky (for TV) and virgin (for web) are already installed from the previous house owners. The engineer just needed to plug in the sky box and virgin are posting out a router for us to connect up ourselves. Still no idea whether it'll be broadband or fibre etc. There's not a lot of transparency from them so God knows what the speed will be.

Thanks both ...really useful info. Looks like sky are lagging and not worth depending on them ... Virgin seem a little better but still not good on the new phases... not the best choice really !!!

Thanks for the response ... We're in the same boat, Mark. Tied into a contract with BT. I had a look on that 'USwitch' site when we were weighing up our options, and for our postcode it looked like only Virgin and TalkTalk provide fibre at the time. Don't know if that's changed since as it was a month or so ago.
