Errrm No to Aldi and Lidl and yes to M&S or Sainsburys! There is a red for a proper play area with so many families on Waverley now. Nothing flash just some allocated space until the permanent park goes in. I can't see Aldi being interested. They've got the one at Handsworth and they already have a plot of land with planning permission on Fence Hill on the way up to Swallownest. www.rothbiz.co.uk/2013/11/news-3779-aldi-submit-plans-for.html?m=1

I'm really not keen on Aldi or Lidl, especially with them being quite similar shops and already having an Aldi fairly close.
I would hope for an M&S or Co-Op, or something similar. Safe to say it will never be a Morrisons Local or Asda.
I didn't get a great deal of time to look at the plans in detail yesterday (mainly due to a toddler tantrum, apologies if you were in there trying to concentrate at that particular time!) But the access and parking definitely stood out for me.
I didn't see how much parking would be provided for the apartments and the retail, i'm assuming they each have separate parking areas? If not, that would be a concern. As the overspill would be onto the surrounding roads, as others have mentioned.
Overall though I think the facilities and retail outlets proposed will bring alot to the community and attract more potential house buyers. I guess now we just have to wait and see which businesses show interest!

Are there any images of the proposed plans to view online? Couldn't make it on the day.

This is becoming a joke, what ever my feelings are towards having another shop, 2 mins away from a morrisons and the increase in traffic, litter, chavs hanging around Etc has now been overshadowed by these concrete jungle apartments ,that does not in any way blend in with the area nor is it necessary to have!
I hope the community pulls together and fights for the apartments not to be built! This area will soon fall into the same category as many others rotherham estates .... A shit hole attracting the wrong people!

Hi, We didn’t know about the Proposed local development meeting last Thursday 27th August until it was too late. We are moving to the area early next year and would have liked to have gone to know what’s what. Is there any way in letting people know next time there is a meeting?

Its difficult as you don't yet live on the estate. I guess it would be down to your builder to let you know? All current residents received flyers through the post. Additionally it was advertised on here.

Are those apartments for real what they are proposing?

Any details? I couldn't make it back in time for it. Shops, community and retail units with apartments above, looked ok but they are pushing the number of apartments to the limit again (68) with minimal parking provision. Not sure if they will get the speakers on the mosque past planning in a residential area though. This must be a piss take? Mosque? Where? If this gets the go ahead so will my house going on RightMove!!!

Whilst I like Lidl and Aldi, M&S or Waitrose would send out a more upmarket message about Waverley. However, in planning terms one small supermarket is the same as any other so it comes down to how it fits in with the plans of the retailers. I have a feeling it will be Lidl. Hope I'm wrong!
I was surprised by the plans for apartments above the retail and it was only when I got home I started thinking about the parking. From memory I don't remember any separate parking for the apartments.

A shit hole attracting the wrong people! I have no issues with apartments being integrated into the retail commercial section, on the outside of the estate next to the main road and large amp buildings. In fact anti social behaviour is far less likely with apartments, as residents will tackle it, where as without residents it is more likely to lead to loitering teenagers and a lack of action... I also doubt many chavs will purchase a new build apartment. I would have issues if it was in the middle of the estate as it would be out of place. My issue is parking provision only... It needs to be adequate and I doubt it will be :-(
