I have no idea why no one posts on the TW thread, but I've been meaning too for a while. When we were looking at Waverley, we obviously visited all the builders as it's pretty silly to not consider all options at the same location.
We found Taylor Wimpey sales to be quite unclear at the time, they couldn't be specific about there "releases" and hardly had any homes available... Weird thing being within a week or so of that they released some so it was poor and they could have lost a sale had someone signed up elsewhere... It didn't effect me as I wasn't as impressed with their home designs/style when I compared them to the others.
Just my personal experiences, they were friendly but just could or wouldn't give relevant information which was important to the process.
On the quality front, comments elsewhere on here indicate they are good, though that may be site specific as friends of ours on a TW site elsewhere in Rotherham (near wentworth) have had lots of snags and problems with them, but they don't seem to have those problems at waverley.
Hopefully more people will comment on all parts of the site as only the general and harron boards seem to have discussion....

of the three i found TW to be the least helpful when i went in and enquired, however i have spoken to others that have said they were the most helpful.
I think i either caught them on a bad day, or they didn't like the look of me...

Yeah the Taylor Wimpey lot have been the least chatty. Maybe it's just because they have the least to moan about and their customer service is pretty good.
I found the same when we were looking at TW. They didn't have one 4 bed house available at the time and nothing in the near future so we looked elsewhere. They seem to be miles behind Harron in terms of houses built.

For me they were the only ones who made me feel wanted , very helpful , helped me through my under valuation and the customer aftercare has been nothing short of excellent , I'm not coming on here slating anyone but Baretts and Harron just wasn't the right '' fit ' for our particular circumstances at that time , we looked at what all of them had to offer and I thought and still think TW homes look the nicest just like I think Bmws look nicer than Audis , . Let's be honest ALL the homes are nice , there's no crap looking ones out there I don't think.

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and hopefully new to the community come next June!
I've just reserved with Taylor Wimpey last week, and I have to agree with nicro, they are very friendly and a pleasure to deal with.
We seem to have dropped lucky so far though, mainly because we are buying in the 2nd phase and from what they've told us they are providing a number of extras on the outside as standard (unlike phase 1) such as turf, fences, shed, outside tap, solar panels. Basically all we need to pay 'extra' for to make it 'liveable' is carpets and appliances.
Obviously I'm still in the early stages (hey, our house is currently a plot of flattened mud) but from what I've seen and heard so far I'm more than satisfied with the service.
Me and my OH are very excited to be joining the community in the near future, it's been a pipe dream for quite a few months but now starting to become a reality! Really looking forward to see the house rise from the ground and basically pick how we want it to look without physically having to do anything!

It's great! There's nothing like buying a new build . Tw are adding loads of 'standards' now like better sheds, soft closing units , led outside lights so phase 2 are getting more as standard but phase 2 folk are also paying around 10 grand more than phase 1 folk depending on home type

Yes, I was careful to use the word 'standard' rather than 'free', because we all know it's reflected in the price!

Well success! it was worth posting my experience here! I hoped it might generate some chat and it has, and not only that but another thread followed it so finally the TW board see's some action.
Nicro - you are right, it is about personal choice, like with Audi's and Beamers.... Personally I find the Harron Homes more attractive and I like their designs inside and out.... even enough for me to overlook their worse customer service record...
I'm glad TW sales made you feel wanted as you put it... for me, they were not rude or anything, but they didn't have any 4 bed homes on sale and had no idea when they would, seemed to have no knowledge at all and were not keen on trying to find out more for me... it didn't matter to me as I didn't like any of their 4 bed homes as much as Harron's anyway (once I’d finally been round all the builders and sites), but what was odd was after seeming to indicate nothing was near being available, they released a load a couple of days after our chat with them.

The sales office don't know when plots will be released that decision is made by head office. I know the sales team get just as annoyed that they can't tell people when things will be released for sale. When we were buying we liked a TW and Harron but the sales staff in Harron were the most rudest people I've ever come across we were made to feel that we weren't good enough to buy from them. That was 2 years ago and I know they've changed staff since then.

Yeah... Harron had had a few bad ones in the sales office in the past, but the current one (Rachel) is really nice.

To be fair, it's pretty poor to not have even an inkling of whether plot releases are close or a year away, whether that's head office or sales responsibility. However, they were friendly enough, though not as friendly and helpful as Rachel at Harron. Worst of 3 for me were Barratts by a mile as they clearly had no rush to sell their remaining plots at the time so were just unhelpful... They also seemed to change their prices and deals more often than most people change their pants which is worrying. (I know others will have had great Barratt service, that was just my experience when I was investigating and comparing)

Yep as you suggest, we found barratt's to be the most helpful of the 3 by a long way.
I think really they are all much of a muchness :-D

TW get a shed chucked in? HH don't give sheds. They give a compost box, a water tub and rotary dryer but I haven't received any of them in the 6 weeks we've lived here so far. We have received an electric usage monitor though which is pretty cool.
