Hello to all. Firstly I would like to say a big thanks to all using this forum as myself and my husband have found this very helpful and informative in the process of purchasing our new Harron Home! We are currently due to complete on December 12 and move in on December 19. I was wondering if anybody could share their experiences on the time frame provided by Harron? Were they as described or early/late?
Looking forward to becoming part of the community.

Harron will be looking to close your deal as quickly as possible before the end of December as it is the end of a quarter. We had the same situation in September. They were pushing things through. As it happened we spilled over in to October anyway. We didn't move until we were ready. It ended where on the Monday we were asked to move on the Friday (and ended up on the Thursday as removals weren't available) so it was slow slow slow then very quick. Crazy really.

We put a deposit down in feb and told harron that we had a 2 weeks holiday planned for end of July so wouldn't be able to move during that time.
We told them at least 3 or 4 times that we wouldn't be able to move during that period... But guess what... In the end, at the last minute, they FORCED us to complete while we were away... and then shafted us out of £500 while we were sat on the beach and couldn't do anything about it.
Don't get me wrong, we love living here and our house is great! But for us, the sales process was a complete knightmare from start to finish!

What did they get you on £500 for?
We almost had a similar situation but as it happened the house wasn't ready on time it was a few weeks later than expected. Meant to be mid Sept but didn't finish Til end of Sept so we were ok. My wife wouldn't have been happy I was taking her away for her 40th and our anniversary.

They said we would get £500 off our solicitors fees if we went with their solicitor, and then the day before we completed the solicitors final statement came through and it wasn't there, so had to find an extra £500 to be able to complete.

We were initially told end of November/early December. We eventually moved in on 20th December which made for a manic Christmas.

That's not great behaviour! We got a contribution toward solicitors and to be fair everything that was expected was there on the statement.

Maddie and Adam My only advice will to the check with Harron Homes what "Completion Date" actually means and entails. Our dates were constantly pushed back from March to May and then to June. As HH were taking our old house as Part Exchange - We had to move out, relocate over 60 miles and move into the new house - all on our compelton date. All HH cared about was what time we would hand our keys over from our old house and what time we would pick up the new keys. To be fair to HH, they informed us about a month in advance (but only after it slipping back twice before, so we took it with a big pinch of salt!), but I didn't realise we had to move out and in on that day. So I ended up only having a week to book removals and sort out the whole move. If you don't have anywhere to go inbetween or to store your possessions, then it can be a really stressful process. I used a good removals company from Lincoln if you would like their number.

Welcome to Waverley! We moved in on the 23rd December and it was a rush to get it all through by the end of the year having had the solicitors delay for one thing and another.
You'll have read that getting things sorted can be a nightmare, although when they're on it they're good.
Top tip is it was around 4pm when we took the house, it was dark and the handover was rushed. We missed loads of things for the snag list which made it interesting adding them after, especially as no one was available over Christmas and the hose was then 'lived in'.
Take your time, especially check kitchen surfaces and cupboard doors!
Don't expect any support from the sales team, its not their role (apparently) and didn't entertain us. It didn't help that the woman we bought with moved on straight after so we had no relationship with the new sales advisor.
All in all, love our house and the state, in the main, there is one massive issue though, which brings me to the question, do you have a dog?!?!?!?

We are moving to Waverley in the New Year and are considering getting a dog... have you had any problems as a dog owner (or with dog owners)?

Lol! Cheers Paul!!! Keep waving the white flag! ;-)
Ok, in a nutshell, I'm a dog owner, to be accurate inherited one with my new partner, a Rotty. (Not my partner, the dog!). She's 10 but you'd think she was 4, boisterous, and never really brought up around other dogs so now she has no idea how to react. She jumps up at people, barks at other dogs, and doesn't like people with bags / rucksacks. However while it's not great we know and keep her away from people / other dogs as to avoid anything that may occur. The dogs walked morning and night, and thankfully the majority of time she does her main 'business' up by the AMP, and it's picked up and bagged, then carried home and binned. What has really riled me is the amount of dog waste on the estate which isn't being picked up, lack of dig bins or not. It's in the grass verges, footpaths, and peoples gardens, and to me it's pure filth. It's not occasional, it's constant, and I can't get my head around why anyone would think it's acceptable. Evidently it's being trodden in, and worse is the chance of a child falling in it. I can't put string enough into words how abhorrent it's becoming to the point I wouldn't have moved here. It was my reason for coming on this forum, but the attitude in 11 months hasn't changed, only worsened, and the bins we pay for in our management fee have failed to materialise. Although why I think people will bin it if they can't even pick it up is beyond me. Seriously struggling with this one and no signs of improvement.

Hi Davsur,
I'm sorry to hear that there's such a problem with dog mess, I too share your disgust with people who don't pick up after their dogs. It sounds like you've tried to do a lot about it and aren't having much joy. Who have you spoken to about getting bins put up? I've had a look through other feeds on the forum and it sounds like many residents share your feelings towards the dog owners who aren't cleaning up after their dogs... But I guess it only takes a handful of irresponsible dog owners to spoil it for everyone else.

Hi, theres a sort of agreement that Rich handles all coms to Harworth and he's also contacted RMBC, however they're not receptive, even tho the bins are part of the 2014 management fee. It's frustrating though, as in of the opinion if you can't even pick it up you're not going to bin it.
