2 things are really beginning to hack me off. 1) the Welcome to Catcliffe sign as you come onto the waverley area from Handsworth - why is this still there? 2) the traffic in a morning going to the parkway. I bought a house at waverley partly because it was convenient access to the parkway and m1 and end up going to junction 31 to go south.

It's quite clear in the morning at 6.15 when I go to the gym. Maybe that's your answer... Join a gym :-)

They are doing something about the traffic, or so I've been told...the road works between the Morrisons roundabout and parkway are to widen the carriageway and add an extra lane to relieve traffic..
the signs...apparently these cost £25K each...that's clearly not the raw material costs or the wages for the people that install them but for the paperwork and bureaucracy involved...bloody joke really, but there you are, that's just how the world works...everyone add's their little bit.
I'm sure it will all get sorted in good time...just need to be patient :-)

I'm afraid with all the will in the world your never going to escape the traffic , set off at Paul's time of 6:15 am that should solve it , as for the Catcliffe sign you could maybe take a sledge hammer to it after hours or nick it ( I once nicked a road sign , it's not that hard!!) or scribble the Catcliffe part out with permanent black marker or ignore it and just focus on the one that's 10 times its size that says 'Waverley ' on it!!!!!!, I'm sure someone of importance will sort it at some point

Can't see that being worth £25k although you never know with RMBC. It's taken a million years to sort out a few dog bins so don't expect anything this century.

If two steel posts and a bit of aluminium (or plastic these days as they get fed up with people stealing the metal signs) and some stickers cost £25K....then a stone structure that has to be thought about and built by hand will cost £50K plus.... £500 in materials, £100 in wages and £49,400 in health and safety assessments, risk assessments, lunches for the councilors at the 7K meetings that will need to be held to discuss it... With regards to the dog bins....can we put live dogs in them or do they need to dead first

I bought a house at waverley partly because it was convenient access to the parkway and m1 and end up going to junction 31 to go south. Did you know that a lot of the recent local road improvements are linked to the Waverley development? The pedestrian underpass under the parkway, the extra slip road lanes at the M1 junction 33, the current improvements going on near Morrisons and a future improvement to the Retford road/Rotherham road junction at Handsworth all had to be completed before a certain threshold of homes were allowed to be built. As for the Catcliffe issue you could prove you're not from there by showing people that you don't have webbed feet!
