It's the day before our completion and harron solicitors have just told us that we can't have the £500 off our solicitors fee that we were told we would get if we used their solicitors and mortgage advisors.
Has anybody else been offered this just for it to be taken away at the last minute?
Has any others managed to get this successfully?
We've had a number of 'other' troubles along the way which I won't go into at present... But this one has almost made me want to tell them to forget it!
Any information would be grateful and might help our case.
Feeling very frustrated at present!

We did receive that incentive ... I don't see how they can revoke it if it is written down on your Reservation form and solicitors documentation. Don't expect the frustration to end there with Harron, you have snagging issues to be resolved too when you finally move in!

We received it too. What reason have they given?

They said it wasn't written on the reservation form.
However, it was Jo in the sales office who told us that we would get the money off, she didn't say anything about it being an 'incentive' she just told us as a statement of fact. If you go with them, you WILL get the money off because it would make an easier transaction all round.
To be honest, I would have used a different, solicitor who i know personally (and could have gotten to do the job cheaper) if it hadn't have been for the discount.
Been sold up the river a few times by the poor performance in the sales office!!! It looks like the new person (Rachel) is much better, but that doesn't really help me at present.

Hi Paul, it was written onto our form when we signed up.
Sounds like a fast one to me as quite rightly you could probably have done it cheaper yourself. I have a friend who's done all my conveyancing for last 3 houses but couldn't use him.
Last thing they want now is you pulling out, do if you can hold your nerve is stick it out, but I know that's easier said than done.
Appreciate the snagging list comment, and a few months ago would have agreed, but to be honest it's been 100% better last few months.
Wendy logs it all, Mikes generally the Harron guy who fixes and he's a genuine guy you can count on.
Example we needed some window surrounds re-skimming, he did those, painted, then touched up the stairs walls we'd marked with furniture, not even asked to.
He also arranged other contractors on site when he knew I was in and their job had just been cancelled.

We go this too. It is a difficult one as it was written on our res form so without that you don't really have a leg to stand on but I would kick off anyway. We had loads of that kind of crap but to be fair since we've moved in, everything with after sales has been spot on.

Thanks guys... I shall update tomorrow when I know what the situation is. It also now sounds like they're built a fence in our back garden which sales room Jo said wouldn't be there... It looks like we went out and ordered a £500 gate for the side of the house for no reason. Grrr... On a more positive note, a friend has sent a picture over today and the house is looking really nice :-). Hopefully all the pain and aggravation will have been worth it! Now off for some more sangria.. this time tomorrow it may be champagne! Attachments:

Well... We've completed, but as you can probably guess, we're £500 lighter than we should have been.
We've had nothing but a constant stream of problems and let downs and poor communication throughout the sales process.
My advice to anyone thinking of buying a harron home would be to get ever single little thing down in writing, as they WILL go back on what you have been told by the sales assistants if the get half a chance!

Sounds lousy mate to be honest.
Not what you want, sounds a bit of a C U Next Tuesdays trick but hope you can draw a line under it and not let it take the gloss off your new home.
Keep smiling and welcome!!!

We also had problem after problem before we moved in... from changing completion and move-in dates to problems with solicitor communication.
But if you can get past that you will forget all about it once youre settled. We love our new house despite all the initial issues!
Congratulations on your new home and welcome to Waverley :-)

Congratulations on your new home and welcome to Waverley :-) Thanks... We moved in on Thursday and loved it from the first moment... The sales process was a nightmare, but the house is great and a really good quality build. Like you say, time to put the rest behind us! :-)
