We now have a date for this years Waverley Dash. It will take place on the 9th of July, registration is from the Winter Green from 9am onwards. You can enter on the day or fill in a form from the Winter Green.
Visit www.facebook.com/WaverleyDash for more updates.
If you haven't done it before, we have a nice 5K route around the lakes and a 10K course which takes you around the woods and Treeton Dyke. Both races start at 11am and are just £5 to enter, all participants get a medal at the finish which is on Lescar Road
You must be 16 and over to enter the 10K but the 5K is open to anyone.
Hope you can all come and join us and help support Prostrate Cancer UK.

You do realise it's the Waverley Dash and not the Great North Run !! ;-)

I ran this last year and it's a low key event, given the start is 11am (i.e. before the pub opens) I don't think parking will be an issue (it definitely wasn't last year)

Hi jp, I need to have a word with Emma at the pub but people don't tend to park on the estate they park around the pub the AMRC car park might be an option. We will try and direct people away from the estate as best we can. Hopefully see you on the day jp in your trainers on the starting line

I asked the question because a colleague is part of a Sheffield running club. With the 500 planned entrants she told me folks usually double up on car sharing so we could expect 250 additional cars.

I asked the question because a colleague is part of a Sheffield running club. With the 500 planned entrants she told me folks usually double up on car sharing so we could expect 250 additional cars. Just to reassure you, 74 people took place in this race last year. A few of those live on the estate (I know of at least 5 runners that ran that live on the estate), so I think at most it'd be around 60 cars (if numbers remained the same). These races are advertised by local running clubs and the most I've seen at other 'local' races is about 150. Last year there was definitely no issues with parking as entrants just used the pub car park

Plus I think race licence is granted based on 300 entrants maximum so we wouldn't see 500 people running
