Just wondering what the morning commute was like from Waverley to into Sheffield by car, I know the parkway is a nightmare but what about the roads leading up to it? do people know any better routes? I considered down and through handsworth but I can see that getting a bit snarled up as well.
Cheers!

Through handsworth will add 10-15 minutes to your trip compared to just getting on the parkway during term time. I believe since they did the poplar way improvements (signal cock-up aside), congestion isn't too bad down at the Morrisons end, so I think your best bet is to just get straight on the parkway and crawl along.

The road down near Morrisons has been a bit sticky for the past few mornings. It isn't usually like that, or least it hasn't been since the road improvements.
When I am not cycling, I usually get on the parkway and get off at Handsworth and head through Darnall and Attercliffe before joining Derek Dooley Way. Saves tonnes of time when the parkway is a bit slow.

Cheers good suggestions Considered getting off the parkway and going the long way round towards attercliffe, what's the Europa Link like in a morning? anyone know? Usually pretty good until you get to the junctions of Shepcote Lane and Broughton Lane. Traffic usually stacks up at those two junctions due to the lights only letting 4 or so vehicles through at a time.

I travel to Sharrowvale Road (Ecclesall Road area) in Sheffield via Handsworth / Manor and usually do this in 30 minutes, so to city centre this would be a good 10 mins shorter. Tried parkway but find this route slightly quicker and more consistent, you never know how bad the parkway is going to be! Coming home though the parkway is better, usually 25 mins back for me.

Ah so Richmond road > city road then? do you go down park grange road?, I used to go that way when I lived out near gleadless, find it's decent until you hit town near Queen's road.

I leave at 6:55 each morning heading in to town. Parkway at that time is steady, it takes me 12 minutes to get to the train station from my house at Waverley. This morning however was a bit slower but that's the exception.

I've tried lots of different routes into the city centre. You get held up with traffic lights any other way so I just stick with the parkway. Busy but moving. I set off around 8am and takes me around 20-25 minutes to get to the top of West Street

By the sounds of it parkway is the way to go with other routes as backup if it snarles up. Cheers

I head down Europa link, past the arena, brightside lane to Carlisle street east and even leaving at 8:30am it's about 25mins tops
I tend to leave at different times every day but try and avoid leaving between 8:20 and 9am and then it's less than 20mins in the car, some days as good as sub 15mins.
Or I just cycle and it's around 20mins regardless of traffic.

Not sure of the road names but not city road, I get on to Park Square roundabout and the junction before City Road so end up going via Richmond and Woodthorpe (I think!). Suppose it's swings and roundabouts really, I tried the parkway again this morning for the first time in ages and it took me about the same amount of time.
