Hi all,
Did anyone else go to the meeting the other day about the school? I found it really intresting and think it's an exciting time for the estate.
Got me to thinking though all that money what would be my dream school?
Of course education is number one but after that I'd like to see wrap around care and plenty of after school activities. Also a school building that is eco friendly and gives the children chance to get involved.
What would like?

Indeed. The heart of it should be community and foster social cohesion. This would be inevitable if most parents had the same vested interests in the well-being of their children. I'm up for anything that raises the profile of the community as a whole.

We went on Monday night. It was very interesting and now I am little more familiar with the whole process involved. I am trying not to get too excited yet, as things could change or the school might turn out to be something I didn't expect. Guess we will see what occurs.
What would I like? Good teachers and facilities to match. Oh, and a school that prides itself on including the community in it's events etc.

All of the above.
I definitely feel strongly that it needs to play a big part in the community. Lots of chances for community involvement.

A petition organised by the liberal democrats? There’s a danger this has more political ends than anything else.
But besides that, isn’t this petition a bit of a waste of time? Rotherham council are progressing with the school exactly on time as it has always been conditioned within the planning approval for the estate. A pre-agreed threshold has recently been hit, and straight away we’ve had consultation and the process kicked into gear. Funding will only be released at further milestones, none of which Rotherham can change. I don’t want to be a Rotherham council flag bearer or anything, but they seem to be doing exactly what they said they would exactly when they said they would. A Liberal democrat council wouldn’t be able to do any better, but they don’t have to prove that in order to win some votes claiming to be looking out for the good people of Waverley.

Having to spoken to neighbours they feel let down by the delay to the school. In the original plans, the school should already be being built by now, with a sponsor already in place and funds released at a threshold reached years ago. For some reason, the council agreed to changes that have seen this delay.
We have found that lots of residents have not been kept fully informed of the process, and that parents are having to take their children to far away schools with massive class sizes.
With the petition we plan to present it to the council to show the strength of feeling of residents and to keep residents informed of progress made regarding the school.

With the petition we plan to present it to the council to show the strength of feeling of residents and to keep residents informed of progress made regarding the school. Sorry but that’s not right, the original trigger points were: - Occupation of the 400th dwelling will release funds for the design / procurement process for the first new school. (5% of total funding for the education contribution) - Occupation of the 550th dwelling released funds for a 2 form entry primary school. (45% of total funding for the education contribution) - Occupation of the 1550th dwelling will release funds for the design / procurement process for the second new school. (5% of total funding for the education contribution) - Occupation of the 1750th dwelling released funds for a second 2 form entry primary school. (45% of total funding for the education contribution) The new trigger points as agreed in 2014 via a deed of variation are: -Occupation of the 550th dwelling will release funds for the design / procurement process for the first new school. (5% of total funding for the education contribution) -Occupation of the 750th dwelling will release funds to build the first primary school which will eventually be a 2 form entry primary school. (45% of total funding for the education contribution) -Occupation of the 1550th dwelling will release funds for the design / procurement process for the second new school. (5% of total funding for the education contribution) -Occupation of the 1750th dwelling released funds for a second 2 form entry primary school. (45% of total funding for the education contribution) So even using the original trigger points, we would have only just released funding for construction to start. But even then there would be 3 months to approve the design code, 1 month to assemble and submit the planning application, 3 months to wait for planning board determination of the planning application, and then 6 months before work starts on site, with construction taking around a year. That means that using the old thresholds and trigger points the school wouldn’t have opened until September 2018 at the earliest. It's completely wrong to say that the school would have been completed already. Please review the planning applications and conditions before you perpetuate any of the emotively fuelled mis-information that some residents may believe.

I think a lot of the disappointment felt by parents on the estate stems from being lied to by sales reps at all three builders sales offices!
A number of the people I've spoken to recall being told that a school on the estate was guaranteed to be up and running by 2017. Something that is not in any of the plans or documentation, especially as it refers to a date and not trigger points. It seems as though sales reps were happily making promises to buyers for a guaranteed sale, particularly at the time we were buying! Granted, a little more research would've probably told us what we needed to know, but back then we wouldn't have even known where to start looking.

I know of a few Harron owners who were told various things when they were purchasing. It’s really quite disgusting that Harron can get away with lying in order to make a sale, but it seemingly happens all the time.

But I know the sales staff at all 3 builders offices were doing it too. Terrible really!
