Hi all just wondered if anyone other residents have has any issues , since living her November I have already had 2 complaints firstly for a child's go kart being on the front of the property as it was 2 big to fit in the house so we had to get rid of it leaving the children upset and the other because we has a set if van seats taken out of a van for 2 hours max sat outside whilst we fetched a settee in the van as it wouldn't fit with the seats in the back , I have heard from another resident that I am being reported again this time cause I had a lift in a truck with work items on the back of it ?? Saying I am not allowed work vehicles at the property , surely this is ridiculous as you all use cars to get to work so class as work vehicles too although info understand that a van / truck is quite a lot bigger than a car This issue is making me Ill having to go see gp and now being diagnosed with mild depression cause I have let it et to me. I live on peak dale drive I have not bought my house I do t have savings or anything in that nature so I don't understand why people are doing this or should I say the person as I do know who it is just can't prove until solicitor looks into it Anyway as this fours is for sharing thought I would off load the situation so people know exactly what's happening on here cause I don't think it's fair at all I even keep the kids inside so they don't annoy the neighbours how sad is that I feel like crying I am that unhappy here now after I have near on finished decorating as well just hoping my solicitor can get to bottom of it and get it sorted once and for all Sorry to bore you people x

Hi I have never been interested in posting on a forum, until I read this post, I find the way you are been treated is disgraceful I live on here in tw house and I have a work van and I wouldn't let anyone tell me where to park. You need to raise above the stuck up ingnorance of people and don't let it get you down, I would like to think that your neighbours are the minority on the estate and the rest of the estate are normal people who don't moan and snipe about others who are trying to get on with our lives. Your neighbours knew what and where they was buying before they bought it, they knew there was social housing etc, so it's there fault not yours and if they don't like it they are the ones that should bugger off not you! I think there dreams of living in posh estate are lost on most round so they should try whirlow or dore, but I bet they can't afford it.

Hi Stacey, I've read your message a few times and feel compelled to write back even though I'm not exactly sure what to say.
I can't be judgemental as there's clearly another party involved in this and without hearing their side of the story it would be wrong to criticise.
However clearly its creating an issue for you personally and its extremely disappointing that you've found yourself in this position.
I can imagine we all have our own 'pet hates', but then again we all need to be mindful of our neighbours and have a mutual respect for each other.
I would hope if any of my neighbours had an issue they'd address them with me, and I suppose they would hope I would take it in a positive light to prevent an issue escalating.
I'm not sure on the contract with Harron for the parking of work vehicles (I take it as signed vehicles over a certain weight) on the estate (unless its on the driveway?) but most likely there'll be something in there, but you state it was a short term situation so shouldn't cause offence. Consistently parking a work vehicle in close proximity to a neighbour may cause offence to some people.
As for kids playing out then we've all been kids, I've kicked a football over many a fence and either had to climb a fence to get it back or scoot into a garden before the old guy came out and put his pith fork through it! Kids are kids and we all know what's acceptable and what isn't to us, and again its all down to your personality. (what one person finds acceptable the another won't)
Anyhow, to sum it up, I really do hope you can get it sorted, if you can approach the person who you feel is the cause of the complaints would be one way forward, a residents association may have been able to assist, in the absence of one what about trying some level of mediation, there are people on the estate who have been at the forefront of the RA and maybe available to facilitate a session if both parties are willing.
Genuinely hope you sort it however as its on top of you. I'm sure both you and the other party don't want this long term and a solution needs to be found.

There is no law in the land that states you own the road outside your house, if it's taxed and got a mot you can park.

Maybe not but there's a difference between breaking the law and causing offence.
I would echo what Davsur said, great post by the way mate.
Really sorry that you're having these issues and hope they can be resolved sensibly.

I'm going to jump on this bandwagon a give my two penneth worth , There's two white vans that park on the roadside next to my house , opposite hh sales . Now I'm not that bothered really as there not bang outside my window of which I would be peeved off , now I know that one belongs to a guy who lives opposite me and he has no other place to put it as he also has 2 cars to fit outside his home so he's parking the work van out of everyone's way the best he can ....acceptable . The other van on the other hand I've been told belongs to a bloke who lives round the corner and not even on our road ....not acceptable , why can't he park it on his own road outside his own home because all he's doing is making it harder for me to see what's coming when I'm backing out of my driveway , but I ain't saying nothing or causing any problems as you have just got to accept that not all people are considerate to others , so yes because we all pay our mot and have the right to park where we like you still have to be mindful of others surely , it's just common courtesy ain't it?

All valid comments guys but to bring it back on track the bigger issue is the problem Stacey has and how it's affecting them. I'm sure she'd welcome any suggestions to resolve this.

Vehicles up to a gross weight of up to 3.5 tonnes can legitimately park overnight in a residential area. So generally vans ok but trucks/lorries, not ok. We once lived at the end of a cul-de-sac where the neighbour parked his van pretty much in the middle of the turning circle because there was literally no where else to leave it. Annoying? Yes. Illegal? No. We had to put up with the fact that the view from our living room window was of the side of a white van.
As Dave says, there may be a condition within the HH contracts to do with the parking of commercial vehicles. Either way if the vehicle's there for a few hours it's rather petty to complain. There's nowt as queer as folk, not that it helps much Stacy.

There is nothing worse than the ignorance of people yes I am renting along with my neighbours and myself and my neighbour are single mums that work long hours pay probably more rent and the same council tax as some of people that are buying their homes and have got a problem with "SOCIAL HOUSING" yes I say it in caps as I have been a little peeved with how rented housing is associated with down and outs and are not given a chance even the builders look down on social housing residents and when we first moved her my daughter was trying to get home passed the workmen when one said oh you from that social housing looking at her funny and the woman at Barrett's looks down her nose at people when she knows that they live in social housing (first hand experience), well the colour of our money is the same as all those that have a problem with rented housing. I have a daughter and a son both are very intelligent my daughter has finished Sheffield University and is working my son still at school but in the top sets and what's more they are mixed race we keep ourselves to ourselves. Stacy, your not boring anyone it is interesting to know about others experiences, this is not nice what your going through and just because you can not afford to buy again does not make you any less of a person than that person that is buying and causing you to be depressed. I agree with Davsur well said Dave and the residents association not running as it is a good source of communication for residents and can't believe that one person caused it to fall. I feel we should seriously think about it being revitalised and starting up again anyhow for all the narrow minded people out there, get a life! Keep your chin up Stacy.

Think it's a bit unfair to say it's down to one person that the association wasn't taken any further , it were numerous people including myself that thought it wasn't worth the hassle . For me I just want to get on with my life and enjoy living round here , I don't want to feel any pressures with having to go to any meetings to sort and discuss trivial things or pressured into donating money for whatever reason or going on social outings I might not fancy . We've all got problems in life all of different magnitudes and the wra would just become somewhere to voice those particular problems and quite frankly I'm not interested . I love this forum and I give Rich great credit for his idea and setting it up for people to gather info , have a laugh and just general chit chat but nothing more after all why complicate matters further !

I didn't read it as being aimed at Rich but rather the individual/individuals who were negative about it on the forum ...

I didn't read it as being aimed at Rich but rather the individual/individuals who were negative about it on the forum ... It was not by any means meant to be negative and aimed at Rich, as he's done a great job in starting this forum and also getting a RA together as he did. I just felt it was a shame that it fell at the first hurdle and if those that didn't want to take part didn't have to as their hands was not tied to make them so thank you Anon for raising that appreciated!

I didn't read it as being aimed at Rich but rather the individual/individuals who were negative about it on the forum ... I believe the problem with the RA lies in the above quote. A couple of residents offered a different opinion and questioned the proposed set up. Instead of debating (which is what a RA is all about), it got all defensive and then push their concerns to one side.

James, my comment was to clarify what I believe Rubi meant and wasn't an opinion in any way! It was an alternative view to what (I perceive) Nicro believed it to mean! The real problem is many things are lost in translation when in text and people start jumping all over other peoples comments!
