Hi - has anyone else experienced issues with registering their solar panels?
I'm with Scottish Power for my gas and electricity. They advised me to submit an application for a 'Feed-in Tarrif' (which I did on 6 April). Only this week have I received a response that basically says because I applied after 31st March, my application cannot be processed?!
So as far as I'm concerned, my solar panels are pumping electricity back into the national grid but not benefitting me in the slightest. I've got half a mind to disconnect them.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Please advise.

Well, they are benefiting you by reducing your electricity bill by reducing the power you pull from the grid during the day. Still, payments for the stuff you put back into the grid would be nice.
I know the government have cut back on FITs recently and introduced caps on how many people can get them. It might be that that's affecting you, did Scottish Power give you any more details on why they couldn't do it? You could try another FIT provider - you don't need to use the same company for FIT as the one who supplies your power. I buy power from Eon and get my FIT payments from Good Energy.

We have our energy with Scottish power but or FIT with Eon
No issues with either, although we registered ours a couple of years ago.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Please advise. Same issue, many complaints & no resolution. Basically, if the panels were 'commissioned' (installed) prior to the 15th January, they needed to be registered by 31st March. It seems that whilst putting this legislation together the government didn't take new homes being built into account. So rather than taking a payment for the next 20 years, you & I will get nothing (other than reduced usage) because the panels were commissioned during the build prior to Jan 15th & we were not able to register by the cut off date. Talking to people who had them registered on the new lower tariff, the payments are quite low so we aren't missing out too much. However, I have legal cover through my employer & they have told me the litigation department can take this up with Barratts for not being aware of this legislation as a house builder & registering the panels to be transferred to me. Not too sure if that is worth it though as I do not have complaints about Barratts really.

Had no end of problems trying to register the solar panels. Barratt have been pretty useless in the process to be honest - we know this problem has gone on for a while and Barratt were aware of it (a long time before we moved in) and yet they still seemed to provide new home owners with the same letter, which we were told by the utility company was not adequate to prove ownership of the panels.
