Hi everyone,
I've recently moved onto the estate and have finally got around to changing my Doctor.
I'm from Sheffield and have a few close friends that live in Rotherham. Sadly, I've heard some absolute horror stories when it comes to GP service in Rotherham. On more than one occasion, I've heard stories about calling to make an appointment and being told that the earliest they can do is over a week away. Not great as nobody plans to get sick!
At my practice in Sheffield, if you call up at 8:30am, you're almost always guaranteed to be seen the same day. I've never had an instance where this was not the case.
Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for nearby practices? Or advice about any I should avoid?
Many thanks in advance,
Steve

I would avoid Treeton - we've had nothing but hassle since registering there! My 6 month old daughter has milk allergy and has been on special formula from the doctor since 8 weeks, never ever been an issue when I lived in Penistone and I can order it as and when I need it. Treeton have now turned around and told me I can't get this anymore and I have to be referred to a dietician! The sign behind reception desk says it all "please dont swear at the receptionist" I have been probably 4 times and each of them times there has been atleast 4 people complaining! I have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment for my daughter to see a doctor! It's crap!!!!! Think we are going to transfer to handsworth.

I had similar concerns having been registered at a brilliant gp surgery in Sheffield. I'm registered at Handsworth medical centre which has been fine so far although I've only been once. They do have a good online service which you can use to both book appointments and order prescriptions which is helpful if you regularly need to order prescriptions.

We use Treeton and find them fine. You have to ring at 8.30am or 2pm on the dot to get an appointment that date. If not they will normally offer a doctor call back.

We're at Handsworth too, helps with the online booking and there are 2 surgeries.

I think Handsworth are absolutely fantastic. All of the doctors are helpful and the two surgeries help with getting appointments. Dr Sheikh is particularly good with children.

Hi all, which Handsworth centre is this? I've looked online and there seems to be 3 with very similar names!
