Hi All, I've been paying attention to the forum for some time. We are looking at some of the new Barratts plots but have been swayed in the last few weeks by the Harron Homes as for the price, they are much bigger than Barratts. Looking at something like the Kenilworth or Salcombe But judging by the forum, Harron appear to be pretty terrible. For those who have moved into a Harron home... - What is the worst snag/issue you faced?
- How responsive in general are they to fixing issues?
- Do you regret buying?
- Would you buy a Harron Home again?
Regards, Stephen

Regards, Stephen Worst snag: flooded garage meaning it's pretty useless at the moment. However Harron are being relatively good at sorting things. We've been dealing with Oliver and whilst paced is not their best point, they are pretty good at communicating with us and letting us know when work will happen. We don't regret buying at all, we love our house and would definitely buy from Harron again. Hope that helps

Regards, Stephen Worst snag - the whole canopy on the front of our house has had to be taken off and replaced it didn't fit and now we have crap lead work. I'll happily send you pictures?? We 110% regret buying even so much so we have contemplated selling up and we have lived here 7 weeks, it is beyond stressful. They do try and fix things but it does take lots and lots and lots of nagging.

Biggest snag is a wrongly placed radiator. Harron have completely ignored my emails on this issue. Otherwise? We love love love the house and couldn't be happier. We are in a Hebden.

Ours was a flooded garage, four months in still not sorted even after four attempts and now they seem to have left it and just don't even bother replying to anything. All the house re-plastered and re-painted. Half the kitchen replaced. Garden a lake, and the front still is. Forgot to tile bathrooms so had all the bathrooms ripped out. Carpets a complete mess. Drainage not connected to anything and then when they came to do it they tried bodging it up again a d hiding it. My list could go on and on. Had the whole front door and frame ripped out yestersay because they broke the cill, no plasterer booked in at all, not responding to anything and now I've got this to look at until they decide they want to sort it.
Would never ever buy a Harron ever again. I absolutely love this area and the neighbours around here are amazing, kids really love it but please go with a barratts or TW as you are in for such a battle buying with Harron xx

Thanks for the views on this. I really hope it all gets sorted for those who mentioned problems. This has helped but I guess you are right jdsa by the fact that Harron would be out of business if every single property was wrought with problems. Its just so tempting because they look really nice, have decent sized plots and are well-priced
Likely not any consolation to any of you, but we own a Barratts home already and naturally there have been snags since we bought it and if an 'professional' was needed (plumber, painter, plasterer etc) it would take up to 2 weeks to get them out to us. So whilst every problem was solved, it often was not quick to resolve

We bought a Kenilworth almost 2 years ago. The layout is fantastic for us and we don't have any regrets at all. We were quite lucky with our build. Worst snag was probably a cracked side door panel. That took 6 months to get fixed.

So whilst every problem was solved, it often was not quick to resolve We also currently live in a Barratt house, we've gone with a Kenilworth as our 3 bed Barratt house is so small, we're literally falling over each other...
We had the family bathroom upgraded in our Barratt home 2 years ago and found that the shower Barratt installed had been leaking since it was installed and had worn away the plaster board and the tiles were holding themselves up (would have been a matter of time before they had fallen off)!! Then we found a false wall because they couldn't bothered to move the radiator in the bathroom and if they'd left it there would have been at least a 2" gap between the real wall and the radiator. There are loads of smaller errors Barratt made, but it seems all new builds get at least minor errors.
We've got a professional snagger coming to snag our Kenilworth before we move in, which I would recommend

Hi, We moved in to a Kinnersley 2 weeks ago. Had a professional snagger come in 2 days prior to move. Would recommend a snagger but in our case it was mostly cosmetic stuff. Gardens on a slope which meant the garage let in water - but they fixed that day 1 (will monitor this though). We had a list of snags (mainly cosmetic but a couple of others - garage, garden drainage, dishwasher fault) and in the first week they fixed many of the issues. Im off work tomorrow and have organised a few more visits. Matt and Oliver have been excellent. House has been fab - issues have been resolved and most are relatively minor. Few outstanding ones which I'm in contact with Matt and Oliver to resolve. They have been really good in listening, acknowledging and responding to emails, texts and grabbing them in the street! No regrets ..
