I can't advise on your specific questions, but I can advise as a fellow developer working from home if you struggle to get set up quickly:
4g on EE is very quick round here (not sure about other networks) so if you have an option to tether from your phone then that's an option.
Alternatively, the Mercure hotel on the other side of the Parkway have speedy and free Wifi. I sometimes tootle over there for a few hours just to get out of the house, but it's also a good backup plan if the Wifi at home is playing up.

Hi all, Will be moving into plot 268 on phase 4 next month (fingers crossed!) and was just wondering if anyone who has already moved into houses on this plot (plots 261 - 264 look occupied!) could give me any rough estimates on how long it took to get their internet set up. I'm a web developer and work from home a couple of days a week so it's fairly crucial I get it up and running as soon as i'm able to. 1. Has any one had any luck getting fibre from any of the providers? 2. How long was the lead time from calling them to them coming out and installing? 3. How long before it was activated? In addition to this, does anyone know what the council tax is on a 'Settle' - or at least what band? I cant check the postcode as it doesn't look like my new address is registered with the post office yet, and Rotherham's council website has so much conflicting information it's impossible to figure out what's what! Any help would be really appreciated Hi jrkyte
We've bought plot 263, our completion date is the 22nd April, which is when we plan to move in. I also work from home full time, so I most certainly need broadband, anything will initially, but fibre would help!
I understand from Ann who moved in first 261, that they haven't got internet yet, but apparently she has chased this has she expecting them to get connected in the next two weeks, fingers crossed.
Cheers Teresa

Ditto, I'd love to watch my Amazon Prime video on the TV, rather than using the 4G on my phone
We've only got a maximum of 1gb at the moment, sometimes 2gb.... If my daughter is on YouTube, we've got no chance of watching anything

Hi Matt - very useful information, especially about the Mercure! Thanks very much Hi jrkyte

Hi Teresa - I've done a quick check for the postcode Harron provided me but our house isn't yet listed so i've been using number 11 which seems to be on them all (and the closest odd number to my number - 17) Sky says there is no fibre but there is standard broadband 3 - 8 mb/s, Virgin say there is no services (perhaps this is something to do with all the Virgin related complaints I just read on the main board!) but BT say fibre is available up to 300mb/s - so I may go with BT as the line is already set up in the house as far as I understood. I'm currently in 'the void' that is Treeton's Beaumont Park estate, I think the fastest speed i've ever received is 300 KB/s... so anything above 1mb will be welcomed by me! But fibre would make my work time much more efficient (and paying for Netflix worthwhile again!) Thanks for your help Ha we went from treetons less than 300kbs to 100mbit. Was a nice upgrade. Basically they are all as bad as each other. My recommendation would be persistence. When we moved in, I bought an asus router, crappy android phone and a three all you can eat data payg that was about 25 a month. Then i used it as if i had internet and didnt really have to do anything when they installed our internet except unplug the teather, plug the cable in and set the virgin provided router to modem only.
