I strongly believe that it will be difficult to object to any future developments on the Waverley estate if Barratts and Harworth succeed with their current attempts to vary the number of parking spaces required per dwelling from the current standard set by Rotherham council and to increase the accepted height of residential buildings. I am lucky enough to be far enough away from the proposed apartment blocks not to be directly affected and you may feel the same but next time it may be the land next to the pub, or the land facing onto Highfield Spring or an extra storey above the shops. If you have any doubts about what may be built near to you in the future get your objections in by the 22nd September, before the genie is out of the bottle.

Don't worry, councillor Hughes is coming round and once he has spoken to people and understands the concerns the residents have, I'm sure as a valued member of the labour team, he will get it stopped. After all you wouldn't want to alienate an entire community against you!

teddyowner makes a very valid comment.
Actions speak louder than words, and promises are constantly broken or deferred - Harworth Estates have consistently transformed the Masterplan in their favour, occasioning greater commercial gains for Howarth and developers as dwellings are favoured over greenspace, despite the known wishes of residents.
Waverley has numerous land packets ready to be sold for development; there is nothing to stop these packets being split further, or Harworth selling sundry residue land for development. On these small areas it makes commercial sense to build high (i.e. flats).
If these plans go ahead it sets a dangerous precedent for future development at Waverley.

Hi, I have just reviewed the new Barrats planning application. All they have done is destroyed what little greenspace there was and replaced it with a car park!! And there are still not enough parking spaces for 2 x monster 4 storey block of flats. This really does show the poor planning that has gone into this. If they are able to build this 4 storey block of **** here, this will set a precedence on the estate, and soon they will do this all over the estate. Object now, it doesn't take long... www.rotherham.gov.uk/info/200074/planning_and_regeneration/534/find_and_comment_on_a_planning_application/2 Reference: RB2015/0960 Have your say and help save the estate!

There will be some people who think that this won't affect them but, in time, it will impact the whole estate as there is still inadequate parking while will cause more stationary cars and traffic through the estate.
we are also slowly but surely destroying the inhabitation of hares, nesting birds and so on that we should be encouraging not evicting.

we are also slowly but surely destroying the inhabitation of hares, nesting birds and so on that we should be encouraging not evicting. Sorry, I don't get that. I think some people are losing track of what we're objecting against here. Waverley was never meant to be a nature reserve. Remember 3980 homes (or whatever the exact number was)? We need to be clear and constructive about where we believe the developer has been unreasonable or has deliberately gone against the master plan, such as the inadequate number of parking spaces and by planning 4 story flats instead of 3. We can't go complaining about flats per se. Anyone who thinks that Waverley will just be filled with detached and semi-detached homes is either misinformed or unrealistic, given the fact that development is massively under quota so far. I've seen some great arguments against the planning application so far but we need to be realistic and consistent about what we're challenging. The "I don't want to look at a flat" argument won't hold any water.

There are parts of the estate that are just that, if you look along the Barrett side for example. Biodiversity is an important part of planning consideration and an ecological survey has to be completed to consider the impact on the environment. There is one attached to the planning application.
I don't object to apartments at all,as long as they are considered in terms of impact to other residents nearby. I object to the traffic and parking impacts along with the impact on the environment, about which I am passionate.
