Just a thought but the Woodland Trust is offering free tree kits out to communities to commemorate WW1. I wondered if there was opportunity to have our own small wood on the Harworth Estate, with their permission, and if the new Waverley community wanted it too? www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/plant-trees/in-your-community/

Sounds good, I reckon that narrow strip of land between the end of the barrats development and high field spring road would be an ideal spot :-)
I would even volunteer to help plant them :-)

I'd help as well. Could even see if residents wanted to purchase a tree to plant?

Good idea! A tree planting day would be a good way to meet people on the estate too!

The packs are free guys, small, medium and large (420 saplings). You have to apply though as a community, with landowners permission and site must be accessible to the public. Rich - could you mention to Harworth and see if they're receptive??? Cheers Dave

Dave, just happened to be driving past and thought...hmmm that would look really nice with trees there. Balance the road out a bit as the is a nice wooded area on one side of the road already.
Just seems a perfect place for a nice wood ;-)
All the little bunny's and hare's that run around there would love it to ;-)

Happy to help out with planting if we can get it moving... And our dog would be happy to water them regularly :-)

Good idea but I can see this being difficult. I'm pretty sure Harworth had plans for houses on that strip you're talking about but I'll certainly ask the question.

Also more than happy to help out with the planting. Interesting to see what Harworth say about it, as the Barratt agent told me that the ground was earmarked for development but not for at least 7 or 8 years.

To be fair I'm pretty relaxed on the location but welcome suggestions. They come in packs of 30, 105 and 420. 105 makes a hedge of about 30 metres, 420 about 120m or 1 acre, to give an idea of scale. First step will be to see if Harworth will support, if not it's irrelevant after that!

Agreed, let us know what the response is. We are only moving in to our house in January, but I am willing to help as soon as we have the go ahead.

Good idea but I can see this being difficult. I'm pretty sure Harworth had plans for houses on that strip you're talking about but I'll certainly ask the question. Yes it's ear marked for development, Phase 3 of the development which is due to start 2020+ but as far as i'm aware no developers have committed to building on the land, I've been told that Barratt's Haron and TW have turned it down due to be a narrow strip of land, close proximity to the road and the big drainage ditch. Phase 3 plans currently show ripping up all the tree's on the other side of the road all the way to the railway embankment and building on there too, which would be a shame. Lets plant tree's rather than ripping more up :-)
