Hey! Just wondering if anyone has registered with a local doctors yet that they would recommend or have had recommended to them. Not sure how it works and whether we have to use one in particular or, seeing as we don't yet have a waverley doctors, do we get to pick from any of the closest? Was hoping to stay with my old doctors as I only used to live 10 mins away from here but they have sussed I have moved out of the area and want me gone

We are with Treeton but only had a medical so far. Seems a bit run down and one of the staff in particular is quite curt.

We're in Treeton, quite pleased. You get The appointments pretty easily for the same day.

I registered with Treeton a couple of months ago and have been in there a couple of times-it's a bit worn but the people behind reception are generally friendly and the pharmacy on the corner never has anyone else waiting in it,result!

Hi,
I went in there today and it looks like the PCT are investing a lot of cash into Treeton soon-the plan they have on the wall is to build a brand new medical centre soon,so worth checking out just to get transferred to the new one :-)

What a joke Treeton Medical Practice is. I wanted to book an appointment for tomorrow but nope, not allowed, I have to ring up on the day because there's a daily release. So I will have to ring up tomorrow afternoon at something like 2pm to get an appointment for that same day. At that point, everyone else is doing the same thing so you can't get through unless you've got the time to sit by the phone and keep trying.
Is it the same system at Handsworth? My last surgery at Killamarsh was fantastic, you could just ring up and book an appointment for whenever you wanted.
If you're about to move here, don't go with Treeton.

Last year I had to cancel our holiday 12 hrs before departure due to my little girl getting chicken pox and right before cancelling I needed confirmation from Docters that it was that just for insurance purposes and handsworth fit us in at 6 pm so I could get that info I needed so on that basis I think it's an alright Docters

I've registered at handsworth, I have so far found them quite difficult to get through to to make an appointment. Sounds like they have a similar booking system as treeton where you have to call on the day to get an appointment and although they seem to have appointments this is not great for people who work as they are usually in the middle of the day. However after saying all that, now I am fully registered I have got online log in details. There are appointments saved for online patients only which can even be on the same day. Haven't needed one yet, but think this could be much easier than trying to get through to them on the phone to book.

We're at Handsworth too and have the online system up and running. Some appointments over the phone seem a way off but overall they seem pretty good when we've had to use them. Having 2 surgeries in Handsworth helps as well as it gives them greater coverage.

Hi, I went in there today and it looks like the PCT are investing a lot of cash into Treeton soon-the plan they have on the wall is to build a brand new medical centre soon,so worth checking out just to get transferred to the new one :-) Don't believe the Hype! I'm new to the area and once asked about the pictures at Treeton - they have been trying to push for the new facility for years but can't get any NHS funding. Is it not going to happen any time soon! I have a lot of issues with Treeton - facilities are seriously run down! and reception staff have zero hospitality! But working with their system, they can be good - appointments are released every day at 8am and 2pm (but you can't call at 8am for an afternoon appointment!). Nurses and Doctors, when you can get to see them, are very good, friendly, helpful and offer a lot of advice. The pharmacy is very good - it doesn't look like much but there rarely seems to be anyone their, so waiting times are quick. They also have a free re-prescription delivery service which covers Waverley. This can be managed by telephone, email or even set up automatically. I use the email service and find it excellent!

We registered with the GP at Handsworth. I managed to get to see a GP last week and have to say, I cannot grumble. Definitely recommend registering there, if you are still considering where to go.
