hi all
I've lived over in Harron now for nearly six months - now the weather is good I'm mountain biking around the lake and other nearby tracks on a regular basis.
If if anybody is interested in joining in, for fitness or fun I'd love the company.
PM me

Hi, Chris1983 and I mountain bike regularly, some decent tracks down to Rother Valley but main area is Sherwood Pines. If you fancy that give me a shout.

That sounds good to me I've made it to rother valley and back once but I'm good at getting lost, it would be good to have someone who actually knows where their going. I'll direct message you my mobile if you want to text me when your next planning a ride and I'll come along.

I would be up for this. I usually go out to the peaks from Sheffield. Out from endcliffe park and up towards the fox house pub etc. be great to find some local routes!

There is quite a bit round here, but nothing really technical like the peaks.
There is the red route at rothervalley which is ok, but it's no sherwood pines or peaks route.
But all enjoyable just the same.
in the summer we occasionally take a gentle ride to rothervalley and will get an ice cream or a cider (or both) then ride back :-D just a nice gentle day out on the bikes.
More than happy to show people the way, any excuse for a cider :-D

Hi, have you any idea how far it is to Rother Valley, and is a straightforward route? We have cycled from RV to Chesterfield and back (20 miles round trip) and fancy extending the route. Thanks

Hi, the route is onto the track by the new entrance to Waverley, and then it goes right through a style and around the football pitch that brings you to the Jet fuel station at Orgreave. Cross the road and further up is a blue cycle sign, follow that path all the way to the A57 flyover. You sort of then come up and around on yourself near the Elmhirst pub, and then you can either follow the track by the railway line or head in a little further up, both bring you to the back end of Rother Valley near the red route. Hard to explain but straight forward enough!

I haven't seen you two out on your road bikes for a little while davsur and chris1983 are you on MTBs at the moment? My training has stepped up, pretty much ready for the London to Paris in 3 weeks.

I did the Tour de Yorkshire 2 weeks back and then limited since then. We're both doing Tour of the Peak tomorrow, just a steady 115 miles......... Ouch.
