I had drainage issues in the back garden. I had to put up with water coming from 3 houses which are higher than mine and with nowhere to go. With the clay being impermeable, I felt they needed to do something about it and re-route the water elsewhere. We were not able to do any work on the garden in that state so I contacted that NHBC and they said I could make a claim on the basis that the garden was un-usable. Very interesting. You might recall my post starting a thread around top soil like a water bed. With the rain in the last few days my garden has become waterlogged. If I had laid turf already it would be saturated as the earth underneath has no drainage. There are large pools of water all over. I have took a photograph. Not sure how I could post if here. What remedial action did they take to fix drainage in your rear garden?

Well our gardeners created a series of channels leading into 2 soakaways but it became evident that they weren't working. What Harron did was connect the soakaways to the sewer via our next door neighbours garden. We still get some standing water when it rains heavy but it does drain into the sewer after a few hours and it's a big relief knowing it's there.
