Hello!
Just been told by the bus driver that the bus isn't going on the estate anymore due to parked cars. Not sure how long this will last. Will let you know if I find out more.

Back to leaving 15 minutes earlier instead of 3 then....

After speaking to First today - buses are back on the estate, for now. There are concerns over healthy and safety as a passenger had to help the bus reverse yesterday when its way was blocked by parked cars. That's why the service through Waverley was suspended yesterday.
First haven't yet decided what will happen to the service. They want to keep it running through Waverley but the parked car situation needs sorting (see petition above). Everything is still up in the air at the moment but they have said they will keep me up to date. So I will post when I hear more.
In the mean time I have asked them about ways of keeping us up to date when the changes occur - so if an event like yesterday happens again, we can find out without missing our buses to work. Will let you know when I get a reply

Thanks for this info Sarah, I would like to think people wouldn't stoop so low as to do this intentionally. An estate this size with potential increase needs a bus route. My son, as do many others uses the bus for college. He has been stood in the cold for over an hour today waiting for a bus that was never going to arrive. I hope this gets sorted soon.

He was at the highfield square one, I think it must have rerouted, another person waiting said he knew that residents were parking intentionally to disrupt the bus service??? As I said before I hope this is not true  |

Just a heads up to those who get on/off in the estate itself - the 72 wont include Lescar and Stephenson Way if the roads are even remotely frosty! I caught the 6.45am 72 this morning from the main stop near AMRC and it missed out the estate altogether. When I asked, driver said they wont serve the estate if roads are frosty/icy. Something to remember during these Wintry months!

The roads should have been gritted. As part of our maintenance fee a private contractor was carrying out the process of salt spreading. Well that was last year, so who knows maybe that boxed hasn't been ticked for this winter.

Well that was last year, so who knows maybe that ed boxed hasn't been ticked for this winter. It's getting beyond a joke trying to predict when the bus will actually run through the estate. As red56 said gritting is supposed to be covered by the maintenance charge. I've not seen any griters on here this winter, has anyone else? I also contacted the roads department when the bus started running on here and asked if the new section of bus route could be added to their gritting schedule. |

I've contacted Harworth and also cllr Simpson regarding this as yet another instance of the bus changing route and potentially leaving residents waiting at stops on the estate. I'm hoping they will come up with a solution to ensure residents are not left at bus stops due to the bus taking the old route.

Just had a reply for cllr Simpson who will also raise this with Harworth. The issue being the roads have not been adopted by the council that saying he is going to raise the question to see if a gritting lorry can be added for the bus route ahead of adoption.
He also asked if residents wanted more grit bins for the estate as I believe we only have one currently. It will obviously not solve the road issue but for general use would they be useful?

Definitely not suspended. Going up and down Highfield Lane regularly tonight. Very icy too - no gritters have gone by.
Grit bins would be useful but if a road is not adopted, why are buses using it in the first place? I thought bus routes had to be gritted by default so surely they need adopting first. Gritting was the one benefit we were looking forward to from the bus. If TSY want to run buses through surely they should be paying for the gritters and not us?

Nope, haven't seen any gritters at all. The bus thing seems to depend on the driver! I caught the 6.45 bus again this morning from outside AMRC and the bus did go through the estate even though it was frosty! When I asked, this driver responded with 'if we can get down the roads then we will...' I told him what the driver yesterday morning had said about not serving the estate if frosty/icy and he just shrugged. Very frustrating to anyone waiting in the estate though!
